Dick Wolfsie heads to Zionsville for up-close look at impressive antique collection – Part 1

OUTCUE=RUNS=0:10 WOLFSIE: GOOD MORNING EVERYBODY. I’M WITH ERNIE TAYLOR AND I JUST WANT TO REFRESH SOME PEOPLE’S MEMORY. WE WERE HERE WEEKS BACK. WE SAW HIS FRONT YARD. EVERYTHING IN THAT FRONT YARD YOU MADE, IS THAT CORRECT? ERNIE: YES. WOLFSIE: OVER HOW MANY YEARS, SIR? ERNIE: OH IT’S BEEN, FIFTY OR SIXTY YEARS. WOLFSIE: AND IT’S BEEN OUT THERE AND PEOPLE STOP BY AND THEY LOOK AND THEY’RE SAYING THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING THING I’VE EVER SEEN. BUT, YOU HAVE TWO BARNS FULL OF STUFF TOO. SO, I’M JUST LETTING YOU GO LOOSE. THIS IS ONE OF YOUR BARN FULL OF COLLECTION OF ANTIQUES. TALK TO ME. NAME A COUPLE THINGS. ERNIE: OK, HERE I’VE GOT A FANCY SET OF HORSE BITS. I FORGET, GENE AUTRY OR SOMEBODY HAD A SET OF BITS LIKE THAT. HERE’S A MEDICINE BIT. YOU HAD THAT ON YOUR BRIDAL AND THIS COME LOOSE AND THEN YOU POURED YOUR MEDICINE IN HERE AND IT WENT OUT IN HIS MOUTH AND HE HAD TO TAKE THE MEDICINE. WOLFSIE: NOW THAT COULD BE FIFTY, SIXTY, SEVENTY YEARS OLD, RIGHT? ERNIE: OH YES. WOLFSIE: MAYBE MORE. ERNIE: MAYBE MORE THAN THAT PROBABLY. WOLFSIE: OK. ERNIE: YEAH, BUT THERE’S ALL KINDS OF HISTORY HERE. THIS FOR EXAMPLE. THIS IS AN EGG BASKET. IT WAS JUST DESIGNED TO GATHER YOUR EGGS. AND, BUT, EVERYTHING YOU KIND OF LOOK AT AROUND HERE IS HISTORY. WOLFSIE: I GOTTA KNOW THIS, HOLD ON. COME HERE BACK HERE ERNIE. I GOT TO KNOW THE STORY BEHIND THIS. ERNIE: WELL, I BOUGHT THIS SLEIGH AND THAT WOODEN WHEEL WAGON OVER THERE OFF OF TWO PETERSON BROTHERS UP NORTH OF DELPHI. ONE BROTHER WAS 85 THE OTHER BROTHER WAS 87. AT THE TIME THEY SAID THIS SLEIGH THEIR DAD HAD WHEN THEY WAS KIDS AND SO THEY KNEW IT OVER A HUNDRED YEARS OLD. WELL, WE PURCHASED IT ABOUT 35, 40 YEARS AGO, SO THEY’RE WELL OVER A HUNDRED YEARS OLD NOW. BUT, WE TOOK IT UP IN AMISH COUNTRY AND ABOUT ALL THEY HAD TO DO WAS PAINT IT. WOLFSIE: AND NOW THERE’S A STORY BEHIND THIS, THERE HAS TO BE. ERNIE: YEAH. MY BUDDY HAD THIS SLEIGH UP AT HIS HOME, BUT HE’S GONE NOW. HE SOLD IT TO US. AND MY NIECE BOUGHT ME THIS HORSE FOR MY BIRTHDAY SEVERAL YEARS AGO. I NAMED HIM HACKSAW. BUT HACKSAW IS PULLING THE DOCTOR’S BUGGY. NOW THIS BUGGY WAS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR A DOCTOR BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T WANT ANY EXTRA WEIGHT WITH RIDERS AND STUFF. IT’D BE TOO HARD ON THE HORSE IF HE’S TRYING TO GET OUT TO A PATIENT REAL QUICK. WOLFSIE: SO, THIS IS A DOCTOR’S BUGGY. ERNIE: DESIGNED ESPECIALLY FOR A DOCTOR. WOLFSIE: OK, THERE’S LOTS MORE STUFF IN THIS ROOM AND WE’RE GOING TO DO IT IN THE NEXT SEGMENT. YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS IT. WE’LL BE BACK. OUTCUE=RUNS=2:30 *BRENN*) –TIME AND TEMP
