USUALLY THEY WOULD STAY OPEN UNTIL 7:00 ON A SATURDAY BUT THE BACK OF THEIR BUSINESS WAS NEARLY DESTROYED BY BURGLARS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. THE STORE OWNER TELLS ME $30,000 WORTH OF DIAMONDS ALONG WITH CASH WAS STOLEN FROM HIS FAMILY OWNED BUSINESS HERE IN HICKSVILLE. NASSAU POLICE SAY TWO MEN BROKE INTO THE STORE AROUND 3:47 AND 5:00 THIS MORNING. THEY CUT THROUGH SHEET ROCK IN A DRESSING ROOM TO GET TO THE JEWELRY STORE THAT IS LOCATED HERE AT 94 BROADWAY. IT’S BEEN IN THIS COMMUNITY FOR 30 YEARS. THE OWNER SAYS HE’S GRATEFUL NONE OF HIS EMPLOYEES WERE HERE AT THE TIME AND NO ONE WAS HURT BECAUSE THE BURGLARS SEEMED DETERMINED TO GET THEIR HANDS ON THE MERCHANDISE. HE SUSPECTS THE BURGLARS ARE THE SAME MEN THAT CAME INTO HIS STORE A FEW DAYS AGO TO GO SHOPPING. GRIP LET THEM IN AND SAID LET ME LOOK AT JEWELRY. I WON’T BUY. JUST TAKING RANDOM STUFF.
