Pair of Sterling Silver Condiment Vases – Antique George II (1759) – AC Silver (A8148)

Hello, my name is Andrew Campbell. Welcome
to AC Silver. These fine and impressive pair of antique
George III English sterling silver condiment vases are quite
exceptional examples. They have a baluster shaped form supported
by a pedestal and domed circular foot. They’re embellished with exceptional chased
decoration. This decoration incorporates two scroll bordered
cartouches, one displaying a contemporary bright cut engraved crest and the other a
coat of arms. The vases retain the original plain domed
push fit covers encircled with further chased decoration reflecting the same design as that
to the body and an applied gadroon decorated border to the rim. The covers are each surmounted with the original
and exceptional cast sterling silver finials depicting a dove; the ornamentation to the
feature finials reflects the heraldry markings. Each piece has two fine and impressive scrolling
handles accented with a leaf design to the centre of the handpiece and leaf decorated
terminals in junction with the body. All the decoration is crisp and sharp. Hallmarks are clear in keeping with the piece’s
age and where struck. At a weight of 26.6 troy ounces thy are of
an excellent gauge of silver. Certainly the vases can be considered to be
in presentation condition. The highlighted features of these exceptional
condiment vases make them ones that could be sold with my highest recommendations. If you acquire any further information or
assistance regarding this exceptional condiment vases please do not hesitate to contact us
via telephone or email.
