Ride Durham Trails – John Connors, Ganaraska Forest

Hi my name is John Connors and I’m from
Courtice, Ontario, and I love to ride my bike. Whether it’s a mountain bike, a road
bike, a cross bike, I love just about everything on two wheels and this is one
of my favorite places to do it. Ganaraska Forest. I love Ganaraska Forest. You’ve got
20,000 acres of untouched forest, it’s accessible, there’s over 100 kilometres
of mountain bike trails right here all single track of just about every level
and if you’re looking for an enduro cross country experience, this is the
place to do it. You’re up and down the Oak Ridges Moraine, you’re surrounded by
pristine forest and this is one of my favorite places to ride a bike anywhere
in the world. One of the best things about riding in
Ganaraska Forest is that you’ve got this marine. The marine is one of the
best draining parts of the world anywhere. The other thing I like about
this area is the hills. If you’re looking for a good challenge, you really work
your cardio, this is the place. The trails are constantly either up or down,
twisting and turning. There is never a straight kilometer. This is a place to
build mountain bike trails, this is a great place to stop on your way home if
you do come to visit Ganaraska Forest. Try the towns of Orono or Newcastle,
or if for a larger centre try downtown Bowmanville. There’s lots to see and do
in all three of the places, or if you need a bite to eat or you want to wet
your whistle, there’s lots of great watering holes and even some tea houses
that you can get a snack or a full meal in when you finish your ride here at

  1. John, you are so well-spoken! (Maybe cyclists are natural spokes-persons! 🙂 Anyway, I love this! And the Ganaraska trails really are in a pretty cool area, both for natural wonders and sweet, small town life. Great video, Durham Tourism!
