Welcome to downtown Kirksville! My name is Monica and I’m a junior exercise science major here at Truman. Originally, I’m from Houston, Missouri, but I’ve really fallen in love with Kirksville as my second home. I could spend hours in downtown Kirksville! Whether it’s at the movie theater, at one of the coffee shops, or browsing around an antique store. In the summer, there are weekly concerts on Friday nights right in front of the courthouse and a farmers market every Saturday morning. There’s a biannual Blues Music Festival just outside of town and an arts and crafts festival that brings in people from all over the Midwest Plus, I have the opportunity to be one of the hundreds of students who give back to the community through service during the Big Event every spring. I also love taking the short drive out to thousand Hill State Park where I can hike kayak or picnic with friends. As a student, Kirksville has everything I need. Living off campus is an affordable option and most student housing is just a few blocks from campus. With Hy-Vee, Walmart, and a very accessible Taco Bell, what else do I need?
