What Shall We Give? – Christmas Music Video

(Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing)
What shall we give to the babe in the manger, What shall we offer the child in the stall? Incense and spices and gold we’ve a-plenty- Are these the gifts for the king of us all? What shall we give to the boy in the temple, What shall we offer the man by the sea? Palms at his feet and hosannas uprising; Are these for him who will carry the tree? What shall we give to the lamb who was offered, Rising the third day and shedding his love? Tears for his mercy we’ll weep at the manger, Bathing the infant come down from above.

  1. We have the ability to keep sharing and do blessings in the name of Jesus Christ every single day.  Beautiful video, beautiful song, beautiful performance.

  2. What an awesome video! That is such a good depiction of the attitude we all ought to seek to have. The feelings and desires they have motivated them to do what they did–because they strive to be followers of our Master, Jesus Christ. "Wise men still seek him."

  3. Doing temple work for our great ancestors including other souls who have not received it yet, is the only perfect gift we can give them. For this week and half of next week the whole of my family is at Suva Temple doing our own sealing and doing temple works for our ancestors as well as other souls.

  4. why don"t we emulate our Saviour all year round? It gives us such a good feeling when we treat others as He would treat us.

  5. What better gift can a person give than service and love to pay respect to Jesus Christ. The thing I love the most about this video is that although each man helped multiple people along the way their later arrival was not one of contention but one of understanding and love. If we live our lives in a way that lets our loved ones know they can trust us and understand on the occasions we are running late we hopefully can expect the same kind of reception.

  6. Too, often we associate giving with $$, but it has more to do with listening & seeing with our hearts. I love this!! Perfect.

  7. The Church does it again!  Another beautifully executed video with a beautiful message that brings the Spirit.  Kudos to the production team!!

  8. My heart just melted when I saw the little girl "sheep" and the 3 wise men. Very touching. I'm sharing this with my children.

  9. Lucas 2:14:"¡Gloria a Dios en las alturas, y en la tierra paz, buena voluntad para los hombres! El coro del tabernáculo interpretando: ¿Qué vamos a dar?

  10. I'm afraid that I've allowed myself to be the foil to those good Christians this year.

This is a great message. The Mormons have done well yet again!

  11. I have been doing this with my children! We have a special gift box where we are writing it down the gifts we can give to Jesus. From service to others, to help improve ourselves as individuals. I love this video, it helped us find ways to help others.

  12. Such a beautiful and touching video, and a perfect Christmas message.
Of course, I would be happy to sit and watch Richard Sharrah all day long.  He's awesome.

  13. I don't have all that much and pretty much everything I do have I was given by him. But I'll give all my heart to my Savior. #TrueChristmas

  14. This video shows you that, practically every single time, the best gifts do not come from the store.  The best gifts in life really come from the heart; that of service to others, willingly, because you want to, not because you have to.  And, that is what the Savior did during His mission; when he was living on earth. We can all learn so much, there is no such thing as learning everything about anything, in this life.  What do you think?!

  15. I do hope and pray that these 320k and hopefully more people who would watch this short but direct message about the best gift we can give this Christmas is through service to others.

  16. The first brother has a gold nameplate that says Oro, which can mean Gold. The second brother has a nametag that says Frank, or Frankincense. And the third brother has a big M on his letterman jacket, possibly for Myrrh.

Amazing attention to detail in this video. Many other hidden gems, I imagine.

Rejoice, Emmanuel! Hosanna to the highest! Hallelujah! Let there be peace on Earth!

  17. That doesn´t mean that we always we going to harvest what we seed, so, let's do it because we please to do it.

  18. Hey guys if its christmas if you dont have presents to give you had present the present is helping others even we cant buy anything is expensive be good each other

  19. Believe it or not, the chorus I am in did this same piece this past Christmas and if you don't mind, I would like to share with you a few alternate lyrics of my own.

First of all, for the end of the second verse, I have come up with the following:

"Are these for Him who will die on the tree?"

Secondly and lastly, I have come up with the following lyrics for the final verse:

"What shall we give to the King who is reigning,
risen again and has conquered the grave?
If to Him now you will come in repentence,
He will forgive and your soul He will save!"

  20. The other month my only kidney got a sudden massive infection. The fever shot up above 101 within a matter of an hour. When my fever hit 102.6 I was already on my way to the emergency room. Two songs played in my head and I sang both of them with my friend who was driving. The first was In Humility, Our Savior. The second was this one. I could not remember what it was called but it kept me sane. Usually when I hit a high fever I ramble incoherently and act out. Singing "tuh ta ta ta tum ta ta tuh ta" (or close to that variation, I am hard of hearing) kept me focused long enough to explain to the ER staff what was wrong so they could immediately do the proper tests and work on breaking my fever. I am so glad my choir at church sang this last Christmas. Now it pops into my head at the most random and usually helpful moments in my life 🙂

  21. Great song. Great story. Great message. Thank you for this wonderful epiphany devotional. The Gift of the Magi has always been my favorite Christmas story, but this video is right up there with it.

  22. Lyrics:
What shall we give to the babe in the manger,
What shall we offer the child in the stall?
Incense and spices and gold we've a-plenty
Are these the gifts for the king of us all?

Tan ta tan tan ta ta tan ta ta tan ta
Ta ta tan tan ta ta tan ta ta ta

What shall we give to the boy in the temple,
What shall we offer the man by the sea?
    Palms at his feet and hosannas uprising;
Are these for him who will carry the tree?

Tan ta tan tan ta ta tan ta ta tan ta
Tan ta tan tan ta ta tan ta ta ta

What shall we give to the lamb who was offered,
Rising the third day and shedding his love?
Tears for his mercy we'll weep at the manger,
Bathing the infant come down from above.

  23. I love this video! I put it in my Youtube "Acts of Kindness" playlist, "Favorite New Additions" and "My Favorite Christmas Videos". I never get tired of seeing it.

  24. I love the meaning of this song and seeing people reach out to others. This video can always cheer me up and help me feel the Spirit.

  25. about the Hymn WHAT SHALL WE GIVE…as it was explained in Music and the Spoken Word the song is nearly 300 yrs old and is from Catalonia is near Spain and the song has been as popular in Catalonia for just as long as the song was first sung. Its too bad during the Christmas Season we don't hear anything close to songs like this on the radio. I just send a link to Hallmark XM Radio of this song given they play the same horrible Jingle Bells stuff for the next 6 weeks ugh. Anyway this song always brings tears to my eyes

  26. The music video brought me to tears (of happiness) and I was able to share it with my family. Although, we are Catholics, it doesn't stop us from appreciating such beautiful talent. I hope that everyone who is on different paths, stop, take a deep breath, and give love and respect to others walking along (no matter what religion or race). Merry Christmas to all! 🎄 🌟
