What’s It Worth With Antiques Appraiser Dr. Lori

WELCOME BACK TO PTL LIVE FROM THE HOME AND GARDEN SHOW. WE ARE HERE WITH ANTIQUES APPRAISER DOCTOR LORI. HOW ARE YOU? I AM SO HAPPY TO BE BACK AT THE HOME SHOW. AND WE ARE HAPPY TO HAVE YOU HERE WITH US. WE DO HAVE SOME REALLY GREAT ITEMS AND WE HAVE OUR GUESTS WITH US AND THEY ALL HAVE SOME ITEMS THEY WANT YOU TO APPRAISE. YOU CAN GET YOUR PIECE APPRAISED. IF YOU DID NOT COME HERE TO PTL YOU CAN DO IT THERE. I AM HERE AT THE HOME SHOW ALL WEEK. SO WE WILL START THERE. YES. TELL US ABOUT THIS. AND CELINA IS HELPING US. WE HAVE AN ITEM FROM KATHY BUTLER FIRST. KATHY, HOW DID YOU COME INTO THIS ITEM? IT WAS MY FATHER’S. HE SERVED IN WORLD WAR II. AND MURDERED HE SERVED? HE WAS IN OKINAWA AND PEARL HARBOR. WELL THANK YOU TO YOUR FAMILY FOR HIS SERVICE. THIS EXAMPLE IS HIS HATS. NOW, IF HIS UNIFORM IS IN GOOD CONDITION. THEY ARE PIECES OF HONOR THAT WE PAY HOMAGE TO. THE VALUE OF THE UNIFORM IN GOOD CONDITION IS BETWEEN $400- $500. I AM AN APPRAISER ONLY BY THE WAY. I DO NOT BUY OR SELL ANTIQUES. WHAT ABOUT THESE PINS? THOSE ARE PART OF THE UNIFORM. WHETHER THEY ARE PINS FOR SERVICE OR AN OCCUPATION OR IF YOU ARE PART OF THE ALLIED FORCES, WHICH HE OF COURSE WAS. THANK YOU. HOODOO WE HAVE NEXT? I LOVE YOUR PENGUINS HOCKEY SWEATSHIRT RIGHT AWAY. WHAT ITEM DO WE HAVE UP NEXT? WHAT ITEM DID YOU BRING? I BROUGHT THE NECKLACE. TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE NECKLACE. THAT REFERS TO YOUR FAMILY, IS THAT RIGHT? IT WAS MY GREAT-GRANDFATHERS. AND HE WORKED FOR PONTIAC. AND MY GREAT GRANDMOTHER ACTUALLY TURNED IT INTO A NECKLACE. IT WAS A TIE TACK. AND SHE TURNED IT INTO A NECKLACE. SO SHE MADE IT A PENDANT. THIS IS 14 KARAT GOLD AND IT IS MARKED. THAT MARKING INDICATES THE QUALITY AND WEIGHT OF THE GOLD. IT ALSO HAS SOME DIAMOND CHIPS. THOSE DIAMONDS IMPACT THE VALUE. IT ALSO PAYS TO SAVE AN COLLECTIBLE. THE VALUE ON THIS PIECE IS ABOUT $250. IT IS A NICE REMEMBRANCE. YOU, SO MUCH. SO WHO ARE YOU? I AM CHARLES DANIELS. I AM FROM WEXFORD, PENNSYLVANIA. DID YOU BRING THESE? YES. TELL US ABOUT THEM. THESE ARE MATCH BOXES. THESE ARE CONSTRUCTED CAN. YOU COULD PUT THESE NEAR THE THE WALL AND THEN YOU WOULD HAVE THE MATCHES IN THAT PARTICULAR PIECE. AND YOU ACQUIRED THAT PROBABLY SOMETIME AROUND THE 1920S OR 1930S. IF YOU LOOK AT THE COLOR AND THE TIMES OF THE DEPRESSION, WE USUALLY HAVE MUTED COLORS. WHAT ABOUT THIS OTHER PIECE? A BOTTLE OPENER? WE FOUND THAT IN A DRAWER THE OTHER DAY WHEN OUR GRANDSON CAME DOWN. IT WAS IN THE BOTTOM OF THE CARD DRAWER. OKAY. SO THAT PARTICULAR PIECE IS WORTH SOMEWHERE AROUND TWO DOLLARS-FIVE DOLLARS. BUT THIS MATCHBOX IS BETWEEN $25-$35. THESE ARE COLLECTIBLE BUT YOU WANT TO THINK ABOUT THESE. NOW WHERE IS CAROL? CAROL HELLO. HOW DID YOU ACQUIRE THIS? IT WAS MY MOTHERS. IT WAS EITHER MY MOTHERS OR MY MOTHER-IN-LAW IS. SO YOU KNOW IT WAS EITHER ONE GENERATION OR MORE BACK FROM YOUR MOM. THAT’S RIGHT. THIS PARTICULAR PIECE IS CALLED A EWER. IT IS A PICTURE WITH A THIN NECK. BASICALLY, THE ORIENTAL PERIOD IS WHEN AMERICANS ARE LOOKING AT ASIA FOR INSPIRATION IN DECORATIVE ART AND THAT IS WHAT THIS IS. THIS IS PORCELAIN AND THESE WOULD HAVE BEEN GILDED AND PAINTED. THIS PIECE DATES BETWEEN 1875- 1900. THIS IS REALLY NICE. THE VALUE ON THIS PIECE IS ABOUT $450. THAT IS VERY NICE. BUT DEFINITELY WORTH KEEPING IN THE FAMILY. EVIDENTLY. IT WILL ONLY INCREASE IN VALUE.
